The Giver Blog Assessment

In the book The Giver, Jonas is the type of person that is dynamic. If you don't know a dynamic person is when a person changes throughout a book, movie, etc. I think that Jonas is a dynamic person because in the beginning of the book Jonas was uncertain and afraid. And when he turns a Twelve he gets the job as a Receiver he changes by learning new things such as love, pain, and color. He also changes by being curious and knows everything but not everything about the community.

When Jonas first had the feeling of love, “I couldn't quite get the word for the whole feeling of it, the feeling that was so strong in the room.”  (14) This quote fits with the topic sentence because it shows that Jonas is learning something new from the Giver so that means that he is changing by learning something new.

When Jonas had notice that he was giving a memory to the new child which is Gabriel, “He was not aware of giving the memory; but suddenly he realized that it was becoming dimmer, that it was sliding through his hand into the being of the new child.” (116) This fits the topic sentence because Jonas learns that he can transfer memories like the Giver does to him.

The theme that I chose in the book The Giver it is Importance of Memories. I picked this theme because in the book there's a lot of memories about a lot of things such as the past. Also because that the book talks a lot about memories and the Giver explains that their are no memories about the past shared to the citizens of the community.

When Jonas wanted the Giver to go with him on the quest to find ElseWhere he says, “The worst part of holding memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.” (154) This quote fits in with the topic sentence because the Giver is talking about his opinion on the memories and that they should be shared and it's good to have them shared not just stored into one person. It's too much for them to take all of the memories at once.

When Jonas was arguing about why they have to keep all the memories to themselves and Jonas says, “without the memories it's all meaningless.” (105) This fits in with my topic sentence because it tells us that Jonas does not like the way the memories are only to themselves and if memories aren't shared to other people the world would be meaningless and their would be nothing to explore like new things if everything is the same.
